Through a series of large black and white photographs Marielis Seyler manifests the unknown and uncertainty found in our lives and gives it a comical but persistent personae.

The work, which acts as portraits of ambiguity, catch the forms lurking in corners and waiting in paths as we go about our daily routines. Like ghostly pets, they wait with quiet obedience, each with an assumed, but missing owner. The “monsters” act as both a result and reminder of the tumultuous era we live in.
