The large family portaits printed on brown kraft paper were shown in March 2007 at the gallery SOHO20CHELSEA in New York. At the center of each the family dog is prominently on display. Dogs can act as identifying signpost of the passing time within the context of family life. Family portraits operate as relics – remembrances of these precious family pets. The use of brown kraft paper, which is normally used as wrapping paper and then discarded, reinforces Seyler`s interest in the ephemeral.
